IC Information
Name: Henry Mills
Age: 12-13
Canon: Once Upon a Time
Canon Point: S3 Episode 20, the very end where the baby was rescued and his family is all standing around baby Neal.
Physical Description: Henry
Canon Abilities: Henry is mostly a normal boy except the one feature brought up in Season 3. The heart of the truest believer. He's been told that he could make or do anything so long as he believed sufficiently enough. Examples of this being when he turned a stick into a sword just by thinking he held a sword. It's also brought up again later in season 3 that when Henry still hadn't remembered his old life that the only way to break the second curse was for him to remember and believe again. So his belief is apparently strong enough to break curses so long as he remembers his true memories and there's a true love's kiss thrown in.
His grandfather also taught him how to sword fight, which he's shown to be capable enough to duel and injure one of Peter Pan's lost boys.
Due to the Sleeping curse, Henry had been afflicted with a rare after effect. In his sleep he would go to a fiery netherworld which he could talk to others who had also been under the sleeping curse no matter what world they were in. The netherworld has the potential though to physically hurt anyone who goes in depending on how deep they go or if they can't control what goes on inside it. At this point, Henry's mind has probably blocked the connection to the place but if he were to go into a deep enough sleep he could go back there.
Possessions: His peacoat, red and grey scarf, backpack with his phone, gameboy, and his fairy tale book.
Personality:
Henry is always willing to break or bend the rules when he feels it is necessary. Examples of this would be when he ventured out of Storybrooke on his own to find his birth mother and stole his teacher’s credit card to fund said expedition to see his birth mother. This all stems from Henry having lived with Regina, his adoptive mother, who he never felt really loved him. But also because Henry wishes to change the situation he is in. Having lived with Regina he wanted a better life for himself; even going as far to find his birth mother to begin that change. In a sense breaking the curse on his town is also shows the significance of what he wants changed. Since Storybrooke was the place where no happy endings could happen Henry wishes to break the curse so the happy endings may come back. If they came back it would allow him to have the change he wants in his life.
Henry is often very bold to those he's upset with or he classifies as evil. He doesn't keep his opinion to himself about what he thinks of someone or their actions and is very vocal when stating them. Constantly, he'd be telling Regina how she's evil and how she doesn't really love him. Even when Greg and Tamara after they kidnapped him, Henry doesn't remain quiet or afraid. He just continually tells them how stupid they are for not bothering questioning who they're working for. He holds nothing back when feels there's something that needs to be said.
Henry is firm in what good and evil is. This is due to the influence of the story book Mary Margret gave to him. With these beliefs he sees Regina as evil being capable of anything. This would be due to the fact of his complicated relationship with Regina and the storybook showing what she had done in the fairy tale world. In this belief he also has an extremely caring nature towards others as he wishes for the curse upon Storybrooke to be broken. At times when it was essential Henry has told Emma that no one could leave the town in fear that something terrible could happen like with Ashley, Ava and Nicholas.
Henry has a strong belief in magic and the power of happy endings. Since he is a child this allows for these views to stay with him but is grounded into him because of the storybook. He is very outspoken about his views and his opinions. When his mother continually tells him that there is no curse, Henry continually stays strong in his belief and tells her otherwise. Even with Emma who is a hardcore realist, Henry doesn't falter on his belief of fairy tales being real. It usually earns him a bit of criticism as most people tell him that he’s just making it up. Henry becomes very defensive in his stance about his beliefs. This makes him very sensitive to being called crazy as he knows he is not. If he is pushed far enough Henry will go out and try and find proof for his story. This has led to him going into an abandoned mine when his therapist had outright called him delusional.
Henry is very idealistic as he believes that Emma (someone who does not believe in Fairy Tales or happy endings) will be the one to save Storybrooke. Even while Emma doesn't believe in magic, Henry is optimistic that she would come to believe. He has a strong faith in her and those who are willing to help break the curse. Even if people do not believe in him, he is willing to believe in those he loves and trusts no matter what. This even leads him to being a very brave boy for his age. Since he believed so strongly in Emma, he was willing to eat a cursed apple turnover Regina had given to Emma believing Emma would save him. His naivete gets the better of him though. Since he is so young he fails to grasp sometimes the seriousness of the curse until something bad happens. Like with Graham he had not realized how dangerous with trying to break the curse was until the former sheriff's death.
Henry is also very persistent in what he does. He will not give up on what he believes in no matter what, even if people tell him he’s wrong or crazy. However, like any little boy he can become discouraged wondering if what he is doing will actually help anyone. When Graham had died Henry was unsure if that he should even continue trying to break the curse. But, because of his faith in Emma he can continue to preserver no matter how hopeless a situation may be.
Even though he's a child, he's very protective of the people of his town and the people he cares about. When Regina had regained her magic and attacked town hall, Henry went with her to keep everyone safe. It even led him as far as to eating a cursed apple turnover to save Emma from becoming cursed.
Henry has shown to have a remarkable capability of love. Despite how his adopted mother treated him, Henry has shown to care for her. He showed concern on multiple occasions for her safety when she was kidnapped and when the whole town was out to kill her. For anyone he loves he's willing to put his own life at risk to save them all. Regardless of the neglect he faced and feeling unloved at certain points in his life he still holds so much love for others.
Henry hates being lied to. Whenever he finds out someone's lied to him he completely shuts them out and gives them the cold shoulder. He values honesty more than anything and has said himself he could handle the truth. It's only that when he finds out the truth after being told a lie he's arguably upset. When he found out about his father being alive after being told he was dead, Henry just shut Emma out completely. Even more instances of this are in season 1 towards Regina as he's constantly shrugging her off because of the lies she had told him about the curse.
Henry has always shown to give people more than their fair share of chances and forgiveness. Even knowing Regina had done so much evil, he never let go of the fact that she could still be a good person. He knew she had the capability of being a hero, but, she needed a chance first. This doesn't mean he's willing to put up with someone's evil deeds. Again with Regina, he wouldn't live with her until she showed him she could really change. When the person in question does show that change he's willing to let them back into his life.
Having read of heroes in his book, Henry has the need to be a hero himself. He wants to be heroic, he wants to be charging into battle with sword in hand and fight the villains. Part of why he puts his life at risk is so he can be a hero. Examples of this being: willingly going into a fiery dream netherworld to deliver a message to Emma and Snow. This quality also makes him a bit foolish; Peter Pan having managed to use this against him in order to steal his heart. Henry believed that by giving his heart up he'd be saving magic and thus the people in Neverland (When in actuality he was just saving Pan and nearly dying for it.) Another occasion of his heroic like quality is sacrificing himself to a sleeping curse just so Emma would believe in Magic and the curse.
The most defining characteristic about Henry though is his belief. When it came to the Enchanted Forest having been real and filled with these fairy tale characters, Henry instantly believed what his book told him. For most things he doesn't need much proof to get him to believe in something. However, these are only concepts that Henry doesn't require evidence. His belief only stretches so far. While he does believe that people can be good, he needs to be shown it. Regina is a primary example because she needed to prove to him that she was capable of change. He needs to know that if someone is evil they are actively trying to better themselves and become good again. When it finally becomes clear that "yes, this person has become good" he's willing to let them in and love them. Otherwise, he pushes people away until he knows for sure they're not about to plot to kill someone. EX. Regina most of Season 2 and all of season 1.

Henry was no stranger to different worlds. He'd read about them, he'd even gone to one before. But, at least in those instances he knew how people got there and how he did. Right now? He was still trying to piece that together. He didn't remember falling through a portal or getting kidnapped, he just remembered being with his family with his new baby uncle. Now he was in this bizarre world, but thankfully it included indoor plumbing this time.
He wandered the streets for hours looking for something to help him find where he was. Newspapers and books didn't help because he couldn't even read those, they were in a totally different language. If it weren't for spying on a few people's conversations he might never of heard that he was in a place called Republic City. He'd poured over his own storybook later to try and find any reference to this city, but nothing. Worry grew in his chest. What if he couldn't get home? What if he was really trapped here forever? But, as soon as these negative thoughts came creeping in, he shook it off just as quickly. No, he had to hold onto his one hope. The hope of his family.
Sooner or later they would come for him and bring him back home. For now, he knew he'd have to find out more about how he got here and how to return back home. He was certain that he could get home, he, his family, they had a way of finding a way back to the ones they loved. Even if they weren't here right now, he knew for a fact they'd start looking for him.
Now there was only one thing left he needed to do. Gather information. Books would be out of the question, but listening in on people still had it's merits. And where is the best place to find answers? Probably the person in power's office building. Henry knew it'd probably be tricky to sneak in and find someone who knew anything there, but he'd try. If worse came to worse he'd just say he was lost. Whatever rules that would keep him out of there didn't matter right now. What mattered was getting back to the people he loved. With this determination burning in his heart, he set off knowing that he'd get home no matter what.
